GMP and the Government of Indonesia (GoI) sign green cooperation agreement


GMP and the Government of Indonesia (GoI) sign green cooperation agreement in Jakarta on 29 of July 2010 GMP signed an MoU with the Ministry for the Development of Disadvantaged Regions in Indonesia - Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal (PDT) to enhance cooperation on issues of sustainable development, efficient land use management and climate change mitigation. Three disadvantaged areas of Indonesia (Kabupaten Malawai in West Kalimantan, Kabupaten Tojo Una-una in Sulawesi Tengah and Kabupaten Keerom in Papua) have been nominated for Pilot Projects.

Of particular importance is the establishment of a comprehensive and stable dialogue on these issues, and close cooperation regarding Indonesia’s efforts to tackle climate change, including technical assistance for creating a framework for financing options for results-based actions supported by international donors for achieving those goals.

The Ministry for Development of Disadvantaged Regions (PDT) is a government executive in the field of Development of Disadvantaged Regions and is led by a Minister of State who is under and responsible to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

Details of this partnership will be further developed with a focus on climate change cooperation in disadvantaged areas and consultancy services. This MoU will constitute the framework for the objectives, tasks and outputs of this low carbon economy partnership. Specific goals and activities are described in the MoU.
